I believe that objects, places and spaces are inseparable part of our day-to-day reality and are constantly influencing and shaping our living and thinking. They are perceptible and tangible and therefore best candidates for coded manifestation of everyday life. Their meaning storage capacity is endless and therefore their potency has been recognized by every culture in our history. From Egyptian pyramids and artifacts to the “hipster” lomographs, clothing and vintage bicycles, every culture have used objects as projection of its values, worldviews, styles, rituals or so to say it is own specificity. In this work I will focus on one specific culture – Jewish Culture in Košice. Through the thick analysis I would try to comprehend significant elements - “Signifiers”; their undeniable interrelation; mind and social processes that have formed the raise and fall of Jewish Culture in Košice. Objects have played their significant role. Egyptian, Hipster or even the Jewish Culture have ensured their eternity by utilization of the object's cultural and social potency. Jewish Culture in Košice have opportunity to do the same. Objects as living witnesses of time past, tangible carriers of knowledge and meaning have a power to preserve Jewish Culture in Košice. I will try to prove that Kippah indeed “makes sense”.
