The aim of this thesis is to introduce the reader into the problematic of Paradise Lost, namely the inner conflict of Satan and the scholarly debate about his role in the poem, using Paradise Lost by John Milton as the basis and works of numerous critics and scholars that have dedicated their work to Milton’s opus magnum, among others, C.
