The submitted thesis is devoted to the study of the Neogene deposits in the area Oleksovice. Attention was mainly paid to facial analysis, gamma-ray spectrometry, grain size and petrographic analysis and study of the grain surface textures. Three lithofacies have been identified based on the sedimentary structures recognised in silty sands and clayey-silty sands. The strong dominance of quartz and quartz-feldspar aggregate was recognised, which point to very mature character of deposits. Such maturity was also confirmed by gamma-ray spectrometry. Quartz granules are mostly angular to subangular and reveal spherical to bladed shape. The study of grain surface textures (exoscopy) shows that the sandy quartz grains are mainly semi-rounded and provide evidence of mostly fluvial transport, such as V-dents, sickle shapes and smoothed slats. Microtextures typical for aeolian transport were rare.
