The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of prefixes of the
Russian verb platiť in comparative Russian-Czech aspect. The
thesis is divided into two main parts, the theoretical part and
the practical one. The theoretical part deals with basic terms
related to word formation and various ways of creating new
words. An integral and most important part of the thesis is the
definition of semantics. The theoretical part explains the
meaning of the Russian verbal prefixing, the issue of the
ambiguity of Russian verbs and the basic meanings of prefixes
in prefixed verbs. The practical part is devoted to detailed
analysis of selected pairs of prefixed verbs and comparison of
all their found meanings. Two Russian and two Czech
dictionaries helped us with this detailed analysis. We used
verbs in context to understand the found meanings. The National
Corpus of the Russian Language and the Czech National Corpus
served for this purpose.
