Tato diplomová práce se zabývá otázkou vnímáni expatama města Brna. This thesis engages in the topic of expatriates' perceptions of Brno. The topic of this thesis has contemporary relevance because expats are not normally the social group involved in research related to urban studies. However, as we know, European countries tend to have older populations overall and the Czech Republic is not an exception. This means that expats could became a rescue point for the Czech economy. But Czech cities should be attractive for highly skilled migrants to come and stay here. There is uniquely designed empirical research in this thesis and the data were analyzed using classical sociological theories as well as modern urban studies. The results of the research show that according to expats Brno has the potential to become a global city, attractive for highly skilled migrants, but it still has many blank spaces in different spheres of everyday life.
