S neustále rostoucím objemem produkovaných výzkumných dat se správa těchto dat stává stále důležitějším tématem. Dokládá to například existence a činnost iniciativy EOSC (European Open Science Cloud). With the ever-growing volume of research data being produced, managing this data has become an increasingly important issue. This is illustrated, for example, by the existence and activities of the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) initiative. In research data management, it is essential that the data comply with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. Storage systems should support these principles and make it easier to achieve them.
Many systems are available for research data management, differing in functionality, complexity, and reliability. Examples include Onedata (onedata.org) and iRODS (irods.org), among others.
The student's objectives are:
- to provide a theoretical introduction to research data management systems,
- to describe in detail the architecture and functionality of the Onedata and iRODS systems, including a comparison of the two,
- install the Onedata and iRODS systems and describe the most important configuration options,
- evaluate the capabilities of each system,
- set up the systems and test the data transfer for two model scenarios (data sharing in a local group vs. data transfer between data centers). Test cases have to be implemented by reproducible workflows.
