"10 Reasons I Decided to Be Trans": The Self-Presentation of Czech Transgender and Nonbinary People Online

Anotace

Tato práce se zabývá otázkou sebeprezentace českých transgender osob na internetu. Prostřednictvím přístupu virtuální etnografie a metody hustého popisu a s odkazem primárně k dílu Ervinga Goffmana a Judith Butler popisuje, jakým způsobem několik vybraných transgender jedinců rozumí své transgender identitě a jakým způsobem ji prezentují. Data jsou sebrána ze dvou soukromých Facebookových skupin věnovaných českým transgender osobám.

Abstract

This thesis deals with the issue of the self-presentation of Czech transgender persons on the Internet. Utilizing a virtual ethnography approach and the method of thick de-scription and referencing primarily the work of Erving Goffman and Judith Butler, it describes the ways a select few Czech transgender persons understand their transgender identity and how they present it. The data are collected from two private Facebook groups dedicated to Czech transgender people.
