The goal of this thesis is to explore the cloud computing,
manly focusing on database management systems as a cloud
service and to propose general scope breakdown structure of a
project for migrating company’s database to a cloud based
solution. It will focus on explaining the key deliverables to
migrate to a database in the cloud and illustrate the tasks
required to fulfill each part of the project. The potential
challenges and risk that must be taken in consideration are
discussed and a comparison between some of the current
available solutions of SQL and NOSQL based database management
systems as a cloud service, considering the advantages and
disadvantages of the cloud computing in general and the common
considerations is provided.
