The thesis describes a foundation of The National park in Štramberk as a place of memory that was founded by a local mayor and doctor Adolf Hrstka. The first, theoretical, part of the thesis deals with project-based learning and regional history which is followed by a project intended for students of history seminars at secondary schools in the last part of the thesis. Further attention is drawn to phenomena of collective memory and creating national identity. The thesis is methodically based on the Pierre Nora’s concept of “place of memory“ and in addition to the above the thesis outlines the political, social and cultural issues of the time The National park was founded.
