Predkladaná magisterská diplomová práca sa zaoberá teóriou odstrašovania zasadenou do kontextu asymetrického konfliktu. Skúmanými aktérmi sú teda štátny aktér, Štát Izrael, na jednej strane a teroristické skupiny, Hamas a Hizballáh na strane druhej. Práca si kladie za cieľ identifikovať a analyzovať konkrétne nástroje, ktoré vybraný štátny aktér implementuje s cieľom odstrašiť teroristické útoky proti nemu zamerané, a rovnako identifikovať a analyzovať odpovede na ich použitie, ktoré prichádzajú zo strany spomínaných neštátnych aktérov. Zároveň je cieľom autorky zistiť, či a za akých okolností sa Izrael dostáva do odstrašovacej pasce, ktoré faktory v danej situácií pôsobia na odstrašujúceho i odstrašovaného aktéra a ako sa odstrašujúci aktér so situáciou vysporiadava. Stanovený časový rámec pre výskum začína rokom 2000, ktorý je zároveň začiatkom Druhej intifády, a pokračuje až do súčasnosti. Hlavné výskumné otázky práce vyplývajú z jej cieľov a znejú: Aké odstrašovacie nástroje boli implementované Izraelom voči Hamasu a Hizballáhu od roku 2000 do súčasnosti? Aké boli odpovede Hamasu a Hizballáhu na odstrašovanie Izraela v danom časovom období? Aký bol charakter situácie, v rámci ktorej sa Izrael ocitol v odstrašovacej pasci, a aké kroky podnikol, aby sa s danou situáciou vysporiadal? V rámci hlavných výskumných otázok budú ďalej skúmané faktory, najmä sociopolitického charakteru, ktoré ovplyvnili a podnecovali konanie jednotlivých strán. This master thesis focuses on a deterrence theory in the context of asymmetric conflict. Thus, the research is focused on the one hand, on the state actor, State of Israel, and on the other hand, on the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. The aim of the thesis is to identify and to analyze specific tools implemented by the state actor in order to deter terrorist attacks directed against it and to identify and analyze responses of above mentioned non-state actors. Simultaneously, the aim of the author is to find out whether and under which circumstances does Israel get into the deterrence trap and how does it deal with the situation. Established timeframe starts by the year 2000, which marks also the beginning of the Second Intifada, and continues until today. The main research questions result from the aims of the thesis and thus are: Which deterrence tools have been implemented by Israel towards Hamas and Hezbollah since 2000 until today? What have been the answers of Hamas and Hezbollah to Israeli deterrence in the specified timeframe? How can we characterize the situation when Israel fell to the deterrence trap and which steps did it take to escape it? The factors (mainly social and political) influencing and encouraging behavior of the actors in examined situation will also be the subjects of the research.
