The goal of the thesis is to explore obfuscation techniques that can be used to increase the security of compiled code on x86 and ARM computer platforms. In the first part of the thesis, the student will explore the basic obfuscation transformations (both static and dynamic) with a focus on the obfuscation of code in the LLVM intermediate representation format. The next part of the thesis will be focused on an in-depth review of existing obfuscation tools (e.g., obfuscator-llvm, Tigress, UPX packer). In the practical part, the student will create prototypes of obfuscating passes using the LLVM Pass Framework (or improve the existing passes), determine the obfuscation metrics. Part of the thesis will be an evaluation of usability and portability of the obfuscation techniques for Android OS.
