This diploma thesis titled “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Translation and Analysis of the Script“ deals with translation and analysis of the script of a new play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was based on an original story by J. K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne. The aim of this thesis is to create a personal translation of the script based on the original world of Harry Potter translated into Czech by the Medek brothers, and furthermore to contrast it to the official Czech translation by Petr Eliáš, in order to compare how different translators deal with the new style of Harry Potter story, i.e. the form of a script. In the practical part, the script is translated by the author of the thesis, with the condition of the author not having read the official Czech translation. In the theoretical part, the analysis is concerned with comparison of the author`s translation and the official Czech translation.
