Prerequisites

For all students manipulating with chemical substances during their study at Faculty of Science MU. Students must pass C7777 every academic year.

Course Enrolment Limitations

The course is offered to students of any study field.

Abstract

The course C7777 offers basic information on current legislation relevant to handling of chemical substances, standards of safe handling of chemicals and waste removal.

Learning outcomes

Students should be able to characterize basic principles of safe handling of chemicals and system of classification of hazardous properties of chemical compounds. Students should be also able to give first aid to a person injured or intoxicated by chemical compound.

Structure of the lecture: Principles of classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of chemical substances and mixtures. Rules related to current legislation and inner rules of Masaryk University. Safety of work in chemical laboratory, safe storing of chemical substances and protection of the environment. Guidelines of first aid. Safe removal of chemical waste.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching

Introductory lecture and individual study of provided materials.

Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements

Introductory lecture (2 hours) at the beginning of an autumn term. This lecture is compulsory for all students in the first term of their Bachelor study, the lecture is optional for other students and for Ph.D. students. All enrolled students should pass final test.

Předmět C7777 je nutno absolvovat každý rok, nelze jej opakovat. Nevykonání testu v daném roce, kdy studujete na PřF a zacházíte s chemickými látkami, může znamenat při ukončení studia značné problémy, neboť jde o povinný předmět. Studenti 1. ročníku absolvují přednášku C7777 podle harmonogramu. Potřebné informace jsou všem zapsaným zasílány hromadnými e-mailem, příp. je lze získat ze studijních materiálů k předmětu uložených v IS MU. Test z C7777 je povinný pro všechny zapsané studenty. Test je přístupný z ISu formou odpovědníku k danému předmětu. Z 15 položených otázek je nutně správně zodpovědět 13 otázek. Test lze libovolně opakovat. Absolvovaný test se registruje periodicky do ISu jako zápočet z C7777 a je dokladem o absolvování školení.
