Domain-specific publicly shared model repositories make an important tool for future development of systems and synthetic biology. A crucial part of such repositories is to rigorously and systematically organise current knowledge about modelled living organisms. To that end, a comprehensive modelling platform e-cyanobacterium.org has been developed. The platform supports formal specification of biological knowledge in terms of a rule-based language called Biochemical Space Language (BCSL).

The goal of this thesis is to design and develop a tool for robust maintenance of BCSL specifications online. The requirements on the functionality are the following:

• internal consistency checking of edited records
• syntax highlighting
• integration with e-cyanobacterium.org database
• visualisation of expressions (optional)

Programming language and paradigm is left completely to the author. The thesis will describe specification, design and structure of the implementation. Basic testing of the produced software is expected in order to guarantee robustness of the implemented tool.
