Zadání práce
The aim of the thesis is to analyze and describe possibilities of creating an augmented reality (AR) application for the Android platform. The student will design and implement a prototype of application that will measure dimensions of luggage. The main use of it is to help passengers of airlines check the size of their bags to optimize additional fees for extensive luggage. The measuring will require an Android smartphone only. The developed application will be integrated in to an existing application by Kiwi.com to improve its service. The application will implement the following AR features:
  • Guide a user through the measuring process;
  • Provide a clear result of the measurement;
  • Draw virtual objects to show progress or a result;
  • Animate changes in virtual objects;
  • To be available on all AR certified by Google devices;
  • Measure different kinds of bags (from backpacks to suitcases).
The thesis will describe the algorithms in pseudo-code that realize the measuring in AR. A short survey of applicable SDK frameworks for AR development in general will be included. A compiled APK of app as well as a demonstration video will be included. Source codes will not be available, since it is a property of Kiwi.com. Additionally, the student will verify effectiveness of the app by comparing results of the app with manual measurements.
