Harry Potter - Translation and Analysis of a Selected Chapter

Abstract

Tato práce obsahuje anglicko-český překlad kapitoly z Harryho Pottera a kamene mudrců od J.K. Rowlingové, který tvoří část praktickou. Teoretická část se věnuje zejména postupům překladu vlastních jmen a s tím souvisejícímu rozboru jmen postav objevujících se v knize, možnosti překladu dialektů a základní problematice překladu veršů. Část práce je také věnována expresivní konotaci a překladu citoslovcí a vulgarismů.

Abstract

The thesis has a practical and theoretical part. The practical part contains an English-Czech translation of a chapter from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling. The theoretical part deals with translating proper names and analysing of the main characters' proper names and translating dialects and verses. Translation of interjections and vulgrisms with theory concerning expressive connotation are mentioned in the rest of the thesis.
