The theoretical part will focus on defining the basic concepts – terms culture, cultural differences, intercultural communication or culture shock. The practical part will include the case study of my colleague, Burmese girl Ywet Wai Aung – her cultural and educational background, characteristic features of her communication, her experience of culture shock. The aim of the thesis is to state the theoretical foundations concerning the cultural topics and describe the process of Ywets adaptation to the Czech culture. The first step will be creating the questionnaire and preparing interviews. The second step will be searching the literature and the Internet, in order to lay the foundations of the theoretical part of my thesis. The next step will be analysis of the questionnaire and interviews. The last step will be the conclusion, but it will not be generalization of my findings but only description of the process of Ywets adaptation to the Czech culture. For my diploma thesis I need to cooperate with my colleague Ywet Wai Aung and discuss my work with my supervisor Mgr. Zdeněk Janík, M.A., Ph.D. Except for the literature and the Internet, I will need to create the questionnaire and prepare interviews. I will spend some time with Ywet in order to get her know better and to observe her – to identify her individual characteristic features in communication. But I have to keep in mind that she is Burmese girl communicating in English language in Czech culture. This thesis has to be completed till April 2014.
