This diploma thesis will look into problematic of teaching pronunciation at one specific Czech school. To do so, a case study will be carried out. This qualitative research will deal with one main question: „How is pronunciation taught at one specific Czech school“ and three sub questions: „What importance do teachers tribute to teaching pronunciation“, „What methods are used when teaching pronunciation“, and „How skilled are students at pronunciation?“. To find the answers for these questions, several various methods of research will be used. Firstly, a semi structured interviews will be held with chosen teachers. In these interviews I will focus on teachers‘ approaches towards teaching pronunciation, their experience in teaching pronunciation at school, the quantity of importance they tribute to teaching pronunciation. Secondly, a short questionnaire will be provided to the students. This questionnaire will focus on students‘ theoretical knowledge of the basic problematics of pronunciation (mainly minimal pairs, pronunciation of phonemes schwa, open ae, th sounds, velar n etc.) Lastly, the research would be supported by a direct observation of lessons. During this observation specific data would be collected.
